The River Avon is controlled via a number of gates and sluices along its reach. The Environment Agency have been systematically refurbishing these sluice gates over a period of time.
Mouchel Consulting Ltd were appointed to design and oversee the works and retained Kenneth Grubb Associates Ltd as Sub-Consultants to assess, and advise them on all Mechanical and Electrical aspects of refurbishment for four sites.
Condition assessment of the sites and equipment were undertaken, followed by detailed recommendations on a refurbishment strategy. Subsequently Kenneth Grubb Associates Ltd developed a Mechanical and Electrical specification for tendering.
Included in the scope of works were special telemetry and remote warning and alarm systems.
