SawleyKGAL was appointed by Black & Veatch to design and supervise the installation of new hydraulically powered steel mitre gates with timber sealing faces. The original gates were of timber construction and manually operated by a winch. Situated on the Erewash Canal which runs into the River Trent, their purpose is to increase the standard of flood protection against the River Trent which currently backs up the canal and causes flooding in Long Eaton. KGAL also designed the operating equipment for the motorisation of the footbridge which was previously manually pushed across the canal. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
