Relevant Project Experience

Network Rail Bridges - KGAL
Site survey and condition report for three bridges for Network Rail East Anglia. Role included surveys of the bridges and M & E components during rail closures, detailing refurbishment parts and preparation of 3D models.

Nottingham Trent, Sawley - KGAL
Surveyed existing manually operated footbridge over the lock. Prepared design calculations and drawings for upgrading the bridge to hydraulic operation.

Kings Lynn, Alexandra Dock - KGAL
Site survey of the existing sector gates for refurbishment. Production of 3D solid model and calculations for the modification of the sector gates.

Canvey Island Gravity Sluices - KGAL
Design of replacement penstock leadscrews and electrical actuators for the upgrading and refurbishment of seven sluice structures within the Canvey Island catchment area.

Ouseburn Barrage - KGAL
Design of a pair of vertical lift wheel gates to create a navigable lock and provide flood alleviation on the Ouseburn river in Newcastle. My role included the production of design calculations and CAD drawings for scheme.

Glendoe Hydro Project - KGAL
KGAL were retained by Enterprise Engineering Services to design and produce manufacturing drawings for this new hydroelectric scheme. My role included the production of design calculations and CAD drawings for vertical lift wheel gates, bulkhead gate, stoplogs, lifting beams and trash racks.

Selby Lock - KGAL
Design of a replacement flood alleviation gate to protect the surrounding land from flooding at increased high water levels, the existing gate was not suitable to the EA due to current H&S reasons, my role included site survey, design of the replacement gate and new operating gear to winch the gate across the opening and production of manufacturing CAD drawings.

Sutton Harbour - KGAL
Assistance with design and production of manufacturing CAD drawings for the replacement sector gates and caisson stoplogs.  Software development of various Gate Design programs to assist with design and calculation to current standards.

Ffestiniog Power Station - Kvaerner Boving
Development of 3D solid models for FE analysis of existing Main Inlet Valves.

Sukkur Barrage - Boving Newton Chambers
Survey of existing irrigation control structures and on site installation of strain monitoring equipment on selected parts of the barrage, then subsequent analysis of data gathered to determine what strengthening requirements would be needed for the 'Stoney' roller gates while they were waiting to be replaced.

Nottingham Canoe Slalom - Boving Newton Chambers
Tender Design of a tilting bascule gate with trailing apron for control of water volume through the Canoe Slalom Course, including model testing of the flow over the gate in conjunction with Nottingham University.

Hudds Mill - Boving Newton Chambers
Tender conceptual design and costing of a long span fishbelly flap gate for flood control at Stamford. The gate was 12m span x 3m deep and designed torsionally rigid to allow operation using a single hydraulic cylinder.

Design of specialist Butterfly Valve installations.

Design of numerous types of Steelworks plant including Scrap Baskets, Ladles, Transfer Cars etc.

General Engineering designs such as Revolving Restaurant Turntables.
