Tilting Gates

These gates are a development of the torsionally rigid structure producing large bottom hinged flap gates suitable for use in dock entrances where it is necessary to pen the water in the dock at times of low tide.

  • Advantages
    • Torsionally rigid type can be operated from one side only.
    • Cost effective.
  • Disadvantages
    • A sill recess is required in the floor for the gate to occupy which could be a problem where there is high silt content.
    • Limited wave loading.
    • Limited differential head operation - 0.5m.
