Twin leaf swing bridge, Liffey Bridge

Liffey Bridge, Dublin

Kenneth Grubb Associates Ltd were appointed by Dublin Docklands Development Authority to provide mechanical and electrical engineering supervision for the new Liffey twin leaf Swing Bridge.

A pioneering approach was taken by KGAL and partners on the project: the hydraulic and electrical equipment is built into the bridge, avoiding the need for a separate plantroom.

The main contractor was John Mowlem Construction Ltd, who sub-contracted the design and building of the bridge to Qualter Hall. KGAL worked with architects Brian O'Halloran & Partners Ltd and engineers O'Connor Sutton Cronin.
