KFAS Tilting Dock Gate
The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences commissioned a Scientific Center in Kuwait City. Mouchel Consultants Ltd were part of a consortium of consultants, and specifically provided the design for an impounded harbour and lock entrance which was to house a collection of historic Kuwaiti Sailing Dhows.
Kenneth Grubb Associates Ltd acted as sub-consultants to Mouchel and produced a specification for the supply of an impounding gate which would also act as a wave protection device.
Kvaerner Boving Ltd designed, supplied, installed and commissioned the Tilting Dock Gate. Kenneth Grubb Associates Ltd undertook the role of approving designs, attending tests and accepting the commissioned works.
A Tilting Gate providing a clear opening of 11.3 m and height of 7.5 m was supplied. The gate includes hydraulic and electrical control systems together with emergency recovery equipment.
