Career History:

- Trained as a Mechanical Engineer via a 4 year EITB apprenticeship as an Engineering Technician with Newton Chambers & Company. Attended Technical College part time studying for HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
- Moved to Newton Chambers Engineering Ltd as a design drauhtsman and developed a career path int specialist mechanical engineering. Gained extensive knowledge and experience by working on several large projects in the Steelworks, Water Control and Nuclear industries.
- Promotion to Design Engineer, after acquisition by Boving Ltd became responsible for development of Computerised Design calculation programs and setting up of CAD installation.
- Developed more IT skills through further company changes with Kvaerner and GE. Promoted to Senior Analyst responsible for all Computer Systems including CAD along with End-User support, database and design program development.
- Joined Kenneth Grubb Associates in 2006 as Engineer. Responsibilities include engineering design work and development of computer programs.

Relevant Project Experience - Kenneth Grubb Associates Ltd
Kings Lynn - Alexandra Dock Production of 3D solid model and calculations for the modification of a pair of sector gates.
Ouseburn Barrage Design of a pair of vertical lift gates to create a navigable lock and provide flood alleviation on the Ouseburn river in Newcastle. My role included the production of design calculations and CAD drawings for scheme.
Glendoe Hydro Project KGAL were retained by Enterprise Engineering Services to design and produce manufacturing drawings for this new hydroelectric scheme. My role included the production of design calculations and CAD drawings for vertical lift wheel gates, bulkhead gate, stoplogs, lifting beams and trash racks.
Selby Lock Design of a replacement flood alleviation gate to protect the surrounding land from flooding at increased high water levels, the existing gate was not suitable to the EA due to current H&S reasons, my role included design of the replacement gate and new operating gear to winch the gate across the opening and production of manufacturing CAD drawings.
Sutton Harbour Assistance with design and production of manufacturing CAD drawings for the replacement sector gates and caisson stoplogs. Software development of various Gate Design programs to assist with design and calculation to current standards.

Ffestiniog Power Station Development of 3D solid models for FE analysis of existing Main Inlet Valves.
Installation, setup and administration of various computer networks, and other business systems equipment and services including the setting up of a CAD system.
Computer program and database development to assist with Gate design.
Writing of a Contract Control suite of computer programs and associated database.
Relevant Project Experience - Boving Newton Chambers
Sukkur Barrage Survey of existing irrigation control structures and on site installation of strain monitoring equipment on selected parts of the barrage, then subsequent analysis of data gathered to determine what strengthening requirements would be needed for the gates while they were waiting to be replaced.
Nottingham Canoe Slalom Tender Design of a tilting flap gate for control of water volume through the Canoe Slalom Course, including model testing of the flow over the gate in conjunction with Nottingham University.
Hudds Mill Tender conceptual design and costing of a long span fishbelly flap gate for flood control at Stamford. The gate was 12m span x 3m deep and designed torsionally rigid to allow operation using a single hydraulic cylinder.
Design of specialist Butterfly Valve installations.
Design of numerous types of Steelworks plant including Scrap Baskets, Ladles, Transfer Cars etc.
General Engineering designs such as Revolving Restaurant Turntables.
