Kenneth Grubb Associates Ltd were retained by Enterprise Engineering Services Ltd to produce a design for a stainless steel replacement smolt screen to be installed at the Cassley Intake in Scotland.
The brief consisted of engineering a working solution on behalf of the ultimate client, Scottish and Southern Energy. The 12mm barscreen pitch created some novel manufacturing problems, which KGAL and EESL worked together to solve.
Extensive 3D CAD modeling was used to minimize the risks associated with complex site installation by accurately predicting the geometry of the assembly.
KGAL also undertook screen calculations to substantiate the integrity of the new design, simultaneously considering both strength and flow.
The scheme was successfully commissioned on behalf of the ultimate client by Enterprise Engineering Services Ltd during Summer/Autumn 2004.
