Intake gates, Earlstoun

KGAL were retained by Enterprise Engineering Services Ltd to carry out a full conditional assessment of the two Intake Gates at Earlstoun Power Station in Scotland.

Based on the findings of the assessment, Scottish Power decided to award a contract for the replacement of the Intake Gates to EESL. KGAL were retained by EESL to design the replacement gates.

KGAL were given the brief that the new designs had to be fully interchangeable with the existing civil structure.

KGAL developed the new gate design to include both an improved adjustable sealing system and complete interchangeability with the existing operating gear.

The detailed design was completed and KGAL supplied a full set of manufacturing data to EESL.

The gates were fabricated at EESL's Aberdeen facility, transported to site, installed and commissioned during Spring 2003.
