Minehead Mitre Access Gates
The coast of Minehead is subject to storms which can lead to flooding during periods of the year. As part of an integrated approach to the problem, the Environment Agency commissioned Mouchel Consulting to undertake the design of alleviation and protection measures.
Kenneth Grubb Associates Ltd were retained by Mouchel to develop the requirements for a mitre access gate.
On award of a contract, KGAL then acted as the review Engineer and oversaw the development of a Contractors' detail design, works testing and installation.
The mitre access gate was successfully commissioned in 1999.
KGAL were subsequently retained to automate drainage penstocks and relay information to the Environment Agencys' control centre.
