Company History

Kenneth Grubb Associates (KGA) was formed in Bournemouth by Ken Grubb in 1991.

During his previous employment, as Technical Director of Armfield Engineering Ltd and Biwater Hydropower, Ken gained substantial experience relating to water control gates and hydropower capital equipment.  This experience provided the foundation upon which the company was built.

Throughout the early years the company's main activities focussed on all types of water control gate design and engineering.  Gradually the work scope widened to include pumping stations, bridges and other specialist moving structures.

Due to growth, the status of the company was changed and Kenneth Grubb Associates Ltd (KGAL) was formed in 1998.

The management systems gained accreditation to ISO 9001:2000 in 2002 and currently to ISO 9001:2008.

In 2005 the opportunity arose to open a new satellite office in Wakefield, significantly increasing the company's design capability, with the appointment of a number of established gate designers.  Seven additional personnel joined KGAL in Wakefield, each with significant technical expertise gained through employment with Newton Chambers Engineering, Boving Newton Chambers, Kvaerner Boving and GE Hydro.

In December 2010 the Bournemouth office was relocated to more spacious and modern offices in Poole.

The company now has more than 25 employees including chartered and incorporated engineers.
