Cassion Gate, Milford Docks

Cassion Gates had originally been installed at the entrance to Milford Docks in 1886.  By 1994, these cassion gates had had several refurbishments and control modifications, but had reached the end of their useful lives.

Acer Wallace Evans Ltd (now Hyder Consulting Ltd) in association with Kenneth Grubb Associates Ltd were appointed to design replacement cassion gates together with the related civil engineering and electrical control works.

The scope of the work included the development of a full specification, together with the complete structural design of the new cassion gate leaves and pedestrian walkway. After a round of competitive tendering Ravestein BV of Holland were contracted to manufacture and install the works.

Kenneth Grubb Associates Ltd played an active part in the detail design approval as well as progress inspections and site installation.
