Buryport Harbour Tilting Gate

Buryport Harbour

KGAL were appointed by Tema, working with Dean & Dyball, to provide the design and detailed drawings for a bottom hinged "half tide" tilting gate across the entrance to Buryport Harbour.

The 15.3m span x 2.6m deep gate is designed to retain a designated "half tide" water level in the harbour; it is lowered on a rising tide to provide free navigation, and raised on a falling tide to maintain the harbour water level.

KGAL also designed the hydraulic operating and electrical control systems to the tilting gate and a set of maintenance stoplogs.
