KGAL have been retained by the Electricity Supply Board (ESB) of Ireland to investigate the flow and structural performance of a recently refurbished Dispersal Valve at Pollaphuca Dam.
The study involved using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques to assess the flow velocity and pressure at various stages of valve opening.
The pressures generated were then applied to a Finite Element Model of the valve in its refurbished condition to determine the stresses present within the working valve.
Within the subsequent report detailing the positive outcome of the findings, KGAL also provided expert guidance on the re-commissioning test procedure for the valve. |
